Though Microsoft has remained silent on this initiative, however, tech experts believe that the new MS office would be released early 2013.

Rumors suggest that Office Mobile apps will let mobile users to view any Microsoft Office documents with ease. The only prerequisite will be a Microsoft account. Once the users have an Office 365 subscription, they will be able to edit office documents as well.

Going by the leaked images, one can make out that for the time being Office Mobile will only support Word, Excel and PowerPoint for the time being. Users can expect full suite of Office apps to come on Office Mobile over a period of time. In terms of editing features, users can also expect basic edit functions only in the initial Office Mobile version. Advanced functionalities as you can see in desktop version may take more time to come into the mobile version.

However, the tech world is still waiting for any official comments from Microsoft officials. Reportedly, the company spokesperson has stated that “Office Mobile will work across Windows Phone, iOS and Android.”
