A new report claims that Google Maps app for iOS6 to in its final testing phase. Wall Street Journal has reported that the app is already submitted to Apple for review. As per the information coming in, the new maps app will be featuring turn-by-turn navigation.
There are also reports that Google has already started offering this app to selected people to analyze its performance. It remains to be seen whether Apple would accept or reject the new app by Google. A few weeks before Google Executive had expressed doubt over Apple accepting their Maps app to be a part of iOS store. History also says that Apple has always distanced itself from Google products. However given that Apple’s own native Maps app was criticised heavily for its drawbacks, Google thinks that Apple may give a nod to their Maps app.
Google also seems to be adopting an open approach by not limiting its new Maps app only to the Android devices. Analysts predict that Google would be able to attract more iOS customers towards its android platform with the release of this app. Apple is already at its back foot with many users complaining about the inaccuracy of their Maps app in locating the exact routes between the locations. Though Apple Maps application also has turn by turn navigation feature, it can only be used in the high end devices like iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
