Apple iPad 5

The much speculated about iPad 5 is likely to be unveiled at next week's WWDC in San Francisco. Though Apple has been tight lipped about what the slate packs in, rumours of a lean, durable machine have been circulating around the tech world for some time now. Check out the top 10 features we would like to see in the new-age tablet.

1. Power: Apple is reportedly building its new iPad around its powerful A7X quad-core chip-set. The slate's processor is believed to give it enough juice to multi-task seamlessly and without lags. With a new and improved operating system in the works, powerful inners are just what the tablet needs to carry out all those high-end media and entertainment tasks.

2. Storage: Rumour has it that the iPad 5 will ship in variants of 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB of internal memory. It is also believed to pack in 1 or 2 GB of RAM. Gaming and media enthusiasts will appreciate the storage options on the slate, especially since it does not support external memory expansion.

3. Camera: Those who like taking pictures on the go are hoping that all those rumours about the next iPad being equipped with a bigger, better camera are true. Apple is reportedly prepping its slate with either a 5-megapixel or an 8-megapixel primary shooter, together with a host of improvements. In addition, a rumoured 1.3-megapixel front snapper is believed to facilitate video calls better than before.

4. Operating System: The next iPad is likely to ship with iOS 7 out of the box. The platform is believed to have received a face lift that has overhauled its appearance and functionality. A flatter, more convenient software will make the iPad one of the most desirable devices in the market.

5. Display: There is much talk abound about the iPad 5's display. The tablet is believed to take more than a few design cues from the iPad Mini and flaunt its new and improved Retina Display. In fact, the slate's screen is rumoured to be bigger and more durable than before. Apple is reportedly using Sharp's IGZO technology to build the fabled iPad 5 display.

6. Battery: The iPad has had a history of battery life issues and word around the tech world is that this time around, Apple is hoping to solve the charge problem. The iPad 5's battery is reportedly smaller and thinner than any of its predecessors and doesn't drain away power or heat up excessively.

7. Form: The new iPad is supposedly designed on the lines of the popular iPad Mini. Sleeker and slimmer, it is reportedly lighter and easier to carry around than ever before. Throw in its rumoured ultra-thin, practically non-existent bezels and you have a hip, sexy device.

8. Connectivity: Those who like to remain connected 24/7 will specially appreciate the reports about all the connectivity options the new iPad reportedly packs in. The slate supposedly comes with support for Wi-Fi, 4G LTE and Bluetooth 4.0 with Lightning Connector.

9. Durability: Apparently, the iPad 5 is going to be stronger and more resistant to damage than any of Apple's previous slates. Since the iPad is increasingly becoming a device one carries along with oneself wherever one goes, we would like it to be tough and hardy and resistant to falls, water and dust.

10. Music Streaming: There has been a lot of talk around Apple's proposed music streaming business. If iRadio launches at WWDC, we would like to see it on the iPad 5. What could make the new iPad cooler than a free internet radio service that allows users to stream music anytime, anywhere ?
