HTC Desire U Now On Sale In India For Rs 13,499
HTC Desire U Now On Sale In India For Rs 13,499
HTC has been absent from low-cost handset party for a long time. After announcing HTC One, a premium Android based smartphone, the markers are now looking to tap lower end of the market. It has recently been announced that Bollywood Actor Jacqueline Fernandez is set to promote the brand in India. Now it seems like HTC has plans to reveal a single-core Android powered smartphone in the coming days. Online retailer Flipkart has already started selling the device for Rs. 13,499. However, the company is yet to HTC Desire U officially. With devices like the HTC One, this Taiwan based tech titan, is actually a niche player in India. A good look at their portfolio itself shows lack of low-to-mid-end products. Globally, HTC is facing some crucial problems when it comes to popularity of its devices. Companies such as Apple and Samsung are the ones making money out of selling a smartphone. While Samsung's position as a handset vendor is indisputable. Talking about Apple, the Cupertino-based giant has finally realized its ambitions by selling its iPhone in India through EMI schemes. HTC, on the other hand offers no such schemes to push its most premium handsets - Butterfly and the HTC One in India.
The HTC Desire U won't make much difference to vendors' position in the long run. By selling a single-core handset at Rs. 13,499 doesn't make any sense. It would be great, if they sell the same device around Rs.8,000. HTC could sell the Desire U for lesser amount, as official price is still to be confirmed. The Desire U packs a 4-inch Super LCD capacitive WVGA display with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. This Dual SIM based smartphone is running on Android 4.0 ICS. Other highlighted features include: 1GHz single-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of ROM which can be further expanded up to 32GB through microSD cards, Beats Audio, a 5-mega pixel rear camera on the back , no front facing camera, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth , and a 1,650mAh Li Ion battery inside. The specifications are not great either nor the pricing. It is recommended to buy a quad-core handset from Indian tech vendors. One can easily find a 5-inch qHD or HD display ducked smartphone running latest version of Android with quad-core processor inside
