Micromax launches Canvas 4 with 13 megapixel camera at Rs 17,999
Micromax has launched the highly anticipated Micromax canvas 4 in India. The phone was being teased for many years now and was even up for pre-order (without announcing the entire price) but it was finally unveiled within an event today at New Delhi.
The Micromax canvas 4 features a 5.0-inch, 1280 x 720 'TRU-HD' IPS panel, single.2GHz quad-core processor, It is powered by MT6589, the quad-core processor manufactured by MediaTek which powers Micromax canvas 4 HD. Just like its predecessor, Micromax canvas 4 boasts a 5-inch screen with 720p resolution, 13 megapixel rear camera with five element lens, image stabilization, multiple face detection and vertical panorama, 5 megapixel front camera, dual SIM, dual standby functionality, expandable memory, flip cover option, 2,000mAh battery and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.
The device has 16GB internal storage and 1GB RAM; the storage is expandable with microSD card. It is powered by Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and contains battery capacity of 2,000mAh.
While hardware specifications resemble, Micromax canvas 4 differs compared earlier Micromax phones in terms of design and software features.
The shell with the device may be made using plastic as well as an aluminum frame. It also offers a few unique features like 'blow to unlock' the phone. The phone packs smart gestures that permit a user to resolve a call just by picking the device up, input it in silent mode by turning it inverted and dial lots with aid of proximity sensor.
It also features several unique video playback features, including one comparable to 'smart pause' present in Samsung phones.
The phone also provides some smart features including a pop-up play like video player allowing users to simultaneously view videos while doing other tasks, automatic pausing of videos when one looks away and also the ability to unlock the device by blowing air on the screen.
One of the unique features on this phone is Blow to Unlock, wherein you essentially blow a kiss for your phone to unlock it (yes, that's an authentic feature). Other, more sensible features include video pinning to pin videos about the home screen and appear away to pause video, stuff that's straight away from Samsung's TouchWiz. You can also turn the phone down after a call also it automatically switches to loudspeaker mode.
The phone includes a 13MP primary camera plus a 5MP front camera.

Talking about the recent expansion of company, Deepak Mehrotra, CEO, Micromax said, "We are very excited with all the consistent growth of the brand in India. The numbers are actually promising with 17.1% smartphone market share in Q1 of 2013 positioning us a specific number two inside category, and that we have already gone to live in 24.3% in April 2013 depending on CyberMedia Research."
Micromax says 11,500 units of Micromax canvas 4 happen to be pre-booked in less than a week.
The Micromax Micromax canvas 4 will set you back ₹17,999 ($295) and will also be on sale a few days ago in India.
