Lava has launched the Iris 458q as its first quad-core processor run smartphone. As more local players now boast their multiple-core processor phones and tablets, Lava is trying to tap the potential segment with the Iris 458q which has been launched for Rs 8,999.
Specification wise, the Iris 458q sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with FWVGA resolution. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which is quite an offering at this price point, and has a 1.2GHz quad- core processor with 512MB of RAM. It featured an 8- megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and built-in flash and a front VGA camera for 3G video calling. On the connectivity front, the phone supports 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, and comes with sensors like Proximity, Light and G Sensor. It also offers 4GB of internal memory expandable up to 32GB using microSD card, and comes with pre-loaded apps like WeChat, Push Mail, Ebook reader and more along with some HD movies and HD games.
The Iris 458q smartphone is priced for Rs 8,999 and will be available across all major retail and online stores. Those looking for options can opt for Xolo Q700 which offers similar features like quad- core processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is available for Rs 9,999. Also the phone will face competition from Karbonn S1 Titanium or Karbonn S5 Titanium both of which offer quad-core processors in this price segment.
