South Korean smartphone manufacturer LG Electronics has today officially announced the launch of its Optimus L9 smartphone in India. Priced at Rs 23,000, the Optimus L9 is the latest addition in the style-focused L-Series smartphones from LG. With a 1 Ghz dual-core processor, a 4.7 inch IPS display and a 2150 mAh battery, the Optimus L9 transcends the confines of a traditional smartphone to deliver the optimal smartphone experience.
Built with a sleek, chic frame of only 9.1mm premium metal streak, the Optimus L9 effortlessly follows the trail of its stylish predecessors. Like the other popular L-series smartphones, such as the Optimus L5 and L7, the Optimus L9 too is designed around five primary aesthetic elements: Modern Square Style for comfortable grip, Floating Mass Technology for a slimmer look, Seamless Layout for a more intuitive arrangement of keys, Harmonized Design Contrast utilizing metallic accents and Sensuous Slim Shape that naturally draws the user’s attention.

LG Optimus L9 features Android 4.0 ICS and a gorgeous 4.7-inch IPS display for vivid colors and clear text. The phone comes loaded with a horde of new features, like the QuickTranslator app which instantly translates foreign words and phrases into English. The smartphone also features LG’s QuickMemo, a smartphone experience with powerful note-taking capabilities that lets users add commentary, notes and drawings to screenshots with a few swipes of a finger, then share them with friends and family via social media and email.
By using its CheeseShutter feature, LG Optimus L9 lets users snap photos and take advantage of voice-activated photos by simply saying “cheese” to snap a picture. Another amazing feature of the smartphone makes typing messages significantly easier as the keypad adjusts the key formation based on whether the user is typing with one hand or two.
According to a recent report, smartphone uptake has continued its strong momentum in all regions of the world, with around 40% of all mobile phones sold in Q3 2012 being smartphones. The report further added that Asia Pacific (which includes India) had the largest share of the total mobile data traffic in 2012. The region is further expected to increase its share of data volume to almost 40% by 2018.

Industry analysts forecast the smartphone market in India to grow at a CAGR of 116.4 percent over the period of 2012-2015.
