After a lot of rumors and conjecture, HTC has announced the Butterfly S at an event in Taiwan which will be the successor to the HTC Butterfly. The new device borrows a lot of technology from, the critically acclaimed HTC One including the front facing BoomSound stereo speakers, but it is packaged in an easier to build plastic chassis like the original.

Notably, HTC has bumped up the CPU to a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 which is now clocked at 1.9GHz, just like the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the US. Additionally, we have 2GB of RAM and a massive 3,200 mAh battery that is much bigger than the one on the original Butterfly or the One for that matter. It has a 1080p 5-inch LCD display just like its predecessor.

HTC uses the same 4- megapixel UltraPixel camera for the Butterfly S as the One. On the front it has a 2.1- megapixel camera. Internally, it has 16GB of storage and also has a microSD card slot, which makes this quite a compelling option.

As is the case with most HTC phones, it runs on Android Jelly bean with HTC Sense 5, but it is yet not clear if it runs on Android 4.2 or Android 4.1. This also means that it gets features like BlinkFeed and Zoe camera.

It has been priced at NT $ 22,900 which roughly equates to Rs 44,933, though no Indian launch has been specified.
